Best Heli Ski Helmets
There’s one area regarding skiing, and in particular heli-skiing, that we would never scrimp on. If you value your safety in the mountains of BC, then we recommend checking out one of these top lids. As well as protecting your head from potentially nasty injuries, this year’s choice of helmets all look cool enough you’ll want to keep them on from the start till the end of the day.
Giro’s Seam Ski Helmet
Giro has a well-deserved reputation for creating some of the best and most comfortable helmets available in the market. Around since 1985, Giro’s helmets seem to fit a large majority of people’s heads, something other manufactures try to accomplish but somehow fail. The Seam helmet is no different. Combining Giro’s great fit, with sleek design and lightweight construction this is a perfect lid for the all-mountain rider. Its 12 super-cool vents and a built-in thermostat control keep your head at the right temperature no matter the conditions.

Bern’s G2 Ski Helmet
This second generation helmet improves on the last model’s already impressive interchangeable and removable liner system; making this the helmet of choice for multi-sport focused riders. As good when on the bike in the summer as in the mountains in winter, temperature control throughout the seasons is only a liner change away. A choice of interior is also available with this helmet. Choose from the lightest and coolest (but not certified ASTM or CE) ‘hardhat’ filling, the conventional ESP foam interior or the Bern Zip Mold – an in mould helmet similar to the ESP but where the outer shell and inner shell are combined into one during the manufacturing process. This offers a better strength to weight ratio, lower profile without losing any protective qualities.

Smith’s Vibrant Ski Helmet
According to the tagline, Smith’s Vibrant snow helmet will enable big, aggressive, all mountain descents with top of the line technology for maximum protection. This sounds good to us, and with a sleek, slim brim to add protection from the sun and weather you will definitely look cool making those descents. Three-stage adjustment of 16 vents and AirEvac™ 2 design will do the job of keeping your head cool, and are easy to operate even whilst wearing gloves. A nice touch, similarly found in most helmets these days, are the headphone compatible ear pads helping you get psyched on the ride up.

POC – Receptor Backcountry Helmet
POC has long been making protective wear, but has only come into the limelight in terms of mass consumer helmet production in the last few years. Gaining popularity (a lot may be traced to the variety of bright colors available in many models) they are perhaps the most stylish of the bunch. As with any helmet, comfort and proper fit is to be valued over style and design, but the POC Receptor Backcountry does both superbly. A multi-impact PEP liner inside the shell gives this helmet a longer life than most, absorbing and annulling many small impacts. Designed towards the more advanced, adventurous skier or boarder who often find themselves in exposed environments.
