Hunt powder on a heli ski safari
Safari [suh-fahr-ee]
- a journey or expedition, for hunting, exploration, or investigation, especially in eastern Africa.
- any long or adventurous journey or expedition
The very word “safari” conjures up images of pompous colonial aristocrats in khaki suits and pith helmets. But in contemporary times it’s more associated with adventure, when animals are shot by cameras (more often than not), rather than hunting rifles.

So what then, defines a heli ski safari?
By leaving behind the savannahs of Eastern Africa and instead travelling to the mountains of Northern British Columbia, the hunt is no longer for beasts, but for bottomless powder. And lots of it.
Choosing a heli ski trip can be an onerous task (in the realm of first world problems, at least) when there are so many options. For those who feel as overwhelmed like the proverbial kid in a candy store, luckily there’s a trip that offers a tantalizing sampler menu of some of the best heli skiing on the continent.

The Lodge to Lodge Safari at Last Frontier Heli Skiing is the perfect choice for guests looking for the full gamut of terrain and wanting to try out both our lodges. Over seven days guests will experience skiing in the Skeena Mountain range bases out of our Bell 2 Lodge as well as the Ripley Creek’s rugged Coast Mountains based in the (equally rugged) frontier town of Stewart.
The Lodge to Lodge Safari keeps numbers to a tight maximum of three groups of five guests, transported by A-Star B2/B3 helicopters. There’s even a guarantee that you will ski 100,000 feet (30,500 metres) of vertical, enough to turn any rock-hard quads into jello.

Of course a safari wouldn’t be a safari without expert guidance. Our fully trained and qualified A.C.M.G. or U.I.A.G.M. certified guides will track the easily sniped powder stashes, the big-game glacier descents and the elusive forest-dwelling, deep snow hippos.
You won’t be roughing it in tents, either. After coming home with trophies of exhausted legs and powder-caked faces, the expert chefs at the Bell 2 Lodge and Bitter Creek Cafe will ensure you are nourished for the following day of air-lifted powder pursuit.

Heli Ski Safari. The only way to safari.
